Barry is the Managing Shareholder of Sattell, Johnson, Appel & Co, a CPA firm founded in 1954. Barry graduated with high honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1974. He earned the PFS designation from the American Institute of CPAs where he is a member of the Technology Section and Personal Financial Planning Sections. Barry is the Chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Wisconsin Institute of CPAs. Barry has served on numerous public, private and not for profit boards. He currently is the chairman of the Zoological Society of Milwaukee Endowment Trust and is a member of the Society’s Executive Committee. He resides with his wife in Mequon and has 3 children and one grandchild.

William J. Heilbronner graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1975 and from DePaul University with a Master’s of Science in Taxation in 1977. Bill is the firm's President and serves our clients in all areas of taxation including corporate, partnerships, estates, trusts, and individuals. He also specializes in individual income tax planning and strategic, personal financial planning services. Bill has served on various committees of the WICPA, as President of Jewish Family Services, and as a director of Congregation Emanu-El B'ne Jeshurun, the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, Children's Outing Association, and various other community organizations.

Leanne Buttke concentrates her practice in the areas of business advisory and accounting services, and real estate. She graduated in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and has been with SJA since 1981. Leanne was active as a teacher to small business start-ups as part of the Small Business Assistance Committee of the Wisconsin Institute of CPA's, and has served as chairperson at both the state and southeast chapter levels. She is a past recipient of the Small Business Accountant Advocate of the Year Award for Wisconsin, issued by the SBA.

Bill Hauser has twenty-six years of public accounting experience and joined Sattell, Johnson, Appel & Co, S.C. in December 2004. Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1988. Bill is an audit and accounting partner with the firm with significant experience managing and performing audits, reviews and compilations of wholesale, retail, foodservice companies, health care companies, manufacturers, construction-contractors, mortgage brokers, leasing companies, non-for-profit organizations, defined contribution plans including 401(k) plans, and has experience in preparing corporate tax returns, multi-state corporate tax returns and individual tax returns. Bill also performs business valuations. Bill is a member of the AICPA and WICPA.

Rick Kohl graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1977 with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Masters of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management in 1989. Rick has been involved in accounting and taxation of closely held businesses and individuals. He is a former part time instructor of accounting and personal finance at MATC-Mequon Campus. He is also a former president of the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce, Menomonee Falls Education & Scholarship Foundation, and Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls.

He is a past president of North Hills Country Club and has assisted various other not-for-profit organizations.

Steve began his career as a Cryptologist for the United States Navy, he subsequently got his AAS in Computer Programming from Milwaukee Area Technical College. He has worked in manufacturing, and supported networks as small as 5 computers to those which spanned the globe. He has over 25 years of experience in security and Information Systems. He maintains Sattell, Johnson Appel’s internal hardware and software systems, as well as our physical and digital security measures. He works with clients to assist in technology planning purchase and consulting. He is a the President of the Milwaukee Aquarium Society.
